Meet the Co-Founders of Bright Sparks Academy: Dr. Amber Watkins and Mr. Derrick Watkins.

Dr. Watkins, who holds a doctorate in School Superintendency and Curriculum and Instruction, served as an Executive Director of Exceptional Children’s Programs before founding Early Start Intervention Services, Inc. (ESIS)—an ABA clinic dedicated to supporting children with Autism in rural NC.

Mr. Watkins spent 23 years as an educator and high school principal before joining ESIS as Chief Operating Officer.

As parents of a child with Autism, they understand the importance of creating a safe, nurturing environment led by trained professionals who are committed to spreading love, cultivating hope, and bringing joy to the families they serve. Their shared vision and dedication to serving children and families inspired the creation of Bright Sparks Academy.

At BSA, experienced, certified teachers work alongside instructional staff trained in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analysts (BCaBAs), Student Analyst Trainees, and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs).

Together, the Watkins family and the exceptional team at BSA are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with disabilities.
